Enjoy a 7-day intermediate trek in the mountains north-west of Pokhara. This area is famous for the village of Gandhrung nestled on the hillside above the river valley at an altitude of 2012 meters above sea level and inhabited by Gurungs (who were heavily dependent upon employment in the British Army till the second half of the 20th century), one of the many ethnic groups of Nepal, with their own religion and culture. Ghandrung is a huge village where you will see the headquarters of Annapurna Conservation Project. It offers admirable views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchchhre and Himalchuli. During the trek where you will discover the scenic and magnificent beauty of this rich natural paradise. One of the highlights of this area is the Traditional Gurung Museum which displays the local traditional clothes and equipment used by the Gurung people. This area is also peopled by Magars who, like the Gurungs, may originate from Tibet. Most of them are Hindu with a small fraction of Buddhists.


Day 1: Pokhara / Phedi / Pothana

After your breakfast transfer to Phedi by road (approximately 1h). Start your trek toward Pothana (you will be escorted by an English-speaking guide, porters, and provided with accommodation in lodges on full-board basis). This route will give you a chance to enjoy some very spectaculars views over the snow-capped peaks and mighty glaciers of the Annapurna Range. It will also give you an opportunity to gain an insight into the hard life of Nepalese mountaineers. Today you will proceed toward Pokhara through woodland and hamlets up to the village of Damphus located at an altitude of 1650m. The views towards the towering Mount Machapuchhre (6993 m) is just breathtaking. (walking time : approx 4 hours). Dinner and overnight.


Day 2 Pothana / Landrung

Climb progressively to Deorati then the winding path goes down to Bhichuk through dense forest of rhododendrons. Continue your walk towards the village of Tolka. After lunch proceed to Landrung located at an altitude of 1646 meters. Dinner and overnight in a lodge in Landrung.


Day 3 Landrung / Ghandrung

This morning enjoy a 3-hour walk to the Modi Khola River and continue to the Gurung Village of Ghandrung. In the afternoon Après-midi de découverte du Panorama de la face sud de l’Annapurna. Dîner et nuit au lodge.


Day 4 Ghandrung / Tadapani

Today you will trek along the mountain side through terraced fields and villages of the Gurung community. Approx. walking time : 4 hours. Dinner and overnight in Tadapani (2680m) which affords beautiful view over the surrounding countryside.


Day 5 Tadapani / Ghorepani

Trek through a forest of rhododendrons and impressive gorges where you may have a chance to spot some langur monkeys. Approx. walking time: 5 hours. Dinner and overnight in Ghorepani (2855 m).


Day 6 Ghorepani / Pun Hill / Hile

You may like to climb up to Poon Hill (3200m) early in the morning to admire the sunrise over the Himalayan Range. After breakfast proceed to the village of Hile (1460m). Approx. walking time: 5 hours. Dinner and overnight in Hile.


Day 7 Hile / Nayapul / Pokhara

After breakfast walk down accros paddy fields to Nayapul where your trek ends. Transfer by road to Pokhara where the balance of the day is at your leisure
